Moving on

A lot has happened this past week. Wednesday was Avery's last day of Preschool. It was bittersweet. She is excited to ride the bus and go to kindergarten next fall but she is very sad to leave her teachers and friends. Here are pictures from her first and last day of school. I cannot believe how much she has grown!
First Day

Last Day

That night she had her graduation ceremony.

They performed a lot of songs for us and received a special scrapbook from their personal buddies.

We had cake and punch afterwards. Sarah and Spencer tried really hard to be good for about five minutes. We spent a lot of time with them out in the hall.

We were all tired and grumpy by the time we got home.

We went to the zoo with some friends on Thursday. Its been a long time since our last trip there. I don't know why, but I always enjoy seeing the monkeys the most. All the animals are just, well, "animals". They eat and sleep and pace around. The monkeys are fun to watch because they interact and cuddle. The biggest male orangutan pressed his face right against the glass where all the children were standing and just stared at them. Then he crawled into a large cardboard box and started rolling around. We were totally pooped by the time we left.

Here are some other random pictures from our week. Spencer sometimes gets his leg stuck in the crib.

Avery jamming an entire Cici's cinnamon roll in her mouth. Sometimes I am just too tired to cook. Thank goodness for Cici's.

Lake--

I'm SO happy that you found me out in blog land!!! I can't wait to read through your archives and catch up. I'm in Idaho right now visiting my family for a week, so I will write more later.

Your cute little family is ADORABLE!

Lake, I wasn't sure how to respond about my garden, so I thought I'd just put some minor details on here. I found a website by googleing 'square foot gardens' and kind of got some of my info from there. It says to cover your grass with fabric or landscaping fabric to keep weeds out, then make a box (normally they're 4 feet by 4 feet). I had Steven build my box and he decided to make it 8 feet by 4 feet. I love it though. You're supposed to mix your dirt 1/3 compost, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 vermiculite (I think that's what it's called). I, however, ended up mixing my dirt a part manure, a part top soil and a part peat moss. I was worried my plants (mainly my tomatoes and zucchini) wouldn't have enough root space, so instead of covering to ground to avoid weed, I dug the grass out with a shovel (which, if you decide to do, it's easier if the grass is a bit wet)Anyway, I planted peas (we'll see how they do, since the kids keep digging them up to 'see if they're growing') green peppers, red peppers and yellow peppers (2 of each) 6 tomato plants, 2 zucchini and I'm hoping to get some corn planted as well. You just make your squares with sting attached to thumb tacks and I just measured them off every foot. I hope this makes some sense. E-mail me with any questions you have sarahharward@hotmail.com(I'm not by any means an experienced gardener). Good luck!!

Congrats Avery!

Lake you look great in your pic of you with the red shirt! I would never guess you have had 3 babies! What is your secret?

I am on board with you and am obsessed with looking for vans! We will have to get one when we have #4, but I can wait (for a little while).
