To Recycle or Not?

So, with the upcoming holiday, I have been discussing costumes with the kids. I have been gently urging my children to wear something we already have. When Avery was two years old, I worked really hard to make this candy corn costume. Believe me when I say IT WAS A DOOZIE!

So I had Sarah wear it when she was old enough and I am considering having Spence wear it this year. Is it too weird that I will have three different pictures of three different children three different years wearing the same costume? So I have to consider if I am being environmentally friendly or just CHEAP!

p.s. We are also recycling this costume this year...

"Sarah, you want to be a ballerina for Halloween, Right?"

"Um. Right mom."

See, that was easy.

I'm all for using what you've got! This year Landon and Grant are going to be Mario and Luigi (with stuff we already have: overalls, solid colored shirts, and hats I'm going to make) and Addie is going to be Princess Peach (from Mario) with a pink princess dress up dress we already have. I think weather it's environmentally friendly or cheap, it doesn't matter, it's practical, and as a mom of 3, you've got no choice but to be practical (at least, that's how I justify being cheap to myself) :)

I think you are a smart mamma. I always make my kids choose something from the costume chest (mind you, we have a really well stocked costume chest). I can't bear spending $30 plus on some cheap halloween costume. Last year I bribed my kids with new razor scooters if they would wear recycled costumes. I spent roughly what I would have on new halloween costumes and we were ALL happy with the results.
